Help & guides

Everything you need to report an item, understand matches, and safely reconnect with an owner or finder.

How to report a lost item

  1. Open “Report an item” and choose “I lost something”.
  2. Pick the category and add a clear title — e.g. “Black leather wallet”.
  3. Describe distinctive details: colour, brand, marks, and anything only the owner would know (kept private).
  4. Set the approximate place on the map and the date you lost it.
  5. Add photos if you have them, then publish. That is it — no account needed.

How to report a found item

  1. Choose “I found something” and select the category.
  2. Describe what you found, but keep one or two identifying details to yourself to verify the real owner.
  3. Add where and when you found it. The exact spot is never shown publicly.
  4. Publish — we will start looking for a matching lost report right away.

Understanding matches

We compare your report with the other side and show a confidence estimate for each potential match. A high percentage means several details line up — but it is only a suggestion. Review the match and decide whether to start a claim.

Verifying ownership safely

To prove an item is yours, you answer a few private questions only the real owner would know. The finder reviews your answers before any contact details are shared. This keeps items with their rightful owners and protects everyone’s privacy.

Staying safe

  • Never share passwords, bank details or verification codes with anyone.
  • Meet in a public place when handing over or collecting an item.
  • Keep conversations inside Foundy.am until you are confident — contact details stay hidden automatically.
